Cat

"Cat" Terry Nelson, 2011

To my suprise "Cat" was accepted by the judges of the Fine Arts Exhibition at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul, Minnesota. The show is considered to be the largest and best juried art show in the area and usually receives a couple thousand entries or more. Believe me - it is an honor just to be accepted. The past couple of years I entered and the work was rejected.  Awards are announced on August 23.

I'll look for it when I go!

Nan - be sure and talk to him - he likes the attention. He mostly just listens, but sometimes you can hear him purr.

Somehow, I think it should be called "Cat, dammit."

Hope you did well.

Therese and all, the painting didn't win any prizes but I was told it was a hit with all the kids - for some reason many were thrilled to see a cat at the show. The curators referred to it as 'American Gothic Cat'- I consider that my consolation prize. Thanks for all the nice comments.

I'm extremely late seeing this, but new to your site. I love your artwork, simply LOVE your saints renditions!! Congratulations on this honor (way back when;) and I hope you continue to create these beautiful pieces. I saw a more recent comment from you about feeling like your work is terrible or a waste of time, and I assure you, it certainly is not. You can really inspire people to the faith and to God's goodness through your talent. Don't give it up!
